2014 BEST Celebrity Style

As the year comes to a close lets take a look back at some of the most unforgettable moments in Fashion. Hollywood is full of hits and lets not kid ourselves, many misses. There are some ladies who stay in the safe lane and others who don’t mind taking a style risk from time to time. Everyone has their red carpet favorites and there are some who seem to always make the same list. This year we did see a bit of a variety. Young Hollywood stepped up to the task and did show that good style can start early. Kudos to Chloe Grace Moretz (as seen below wearing a fabulous white Chanel suit and hat), this actress and model had a great year in fashion. With all the rumors of her dating Brooklyn Beckham (who? that would be the 15 year old son of Victoria and David Beckham) she has brought a lot of the buzz with her in 2014. Kate Middleton is without a doubt not only royalty but a style icon already. There isn’t enough blog space on the internet to highlight all her fashionable moments. Before one fashion hit starts the next one is already taking off. When talking about great celebrity style another interesting factor is not just the ‘art’ of posing on a red carpet, we decided to take a look at these ladies ‘off duty’ attire. It’s interesting to see what some of celebs will throw on when running errands, going shopping or heading to an airport. The casual wear can really show a personality. As laid back as it may look it can be just as strategic if not more than what you see at some award shows.

Finally, there are women in Hollywood who took our breath away with their style. For 2014 we gave our trophy to the amazing Lupita Nyong’o! When we saw her at this year’s Golden Globes wearing that jaw dropping Ralph Lauren red cape dress, well we knew instantly fashion history was made. All throughout the award season Lupita had fun with fashion and took many chances with pops of color, different lengths and a variety of design choices. It was quite a year in Fashion! Some of the familiar faces made the best dressed list and others were left behind and we hope a better year is ahead for them. What were some of your fashion favorite moments One Style at a Time readers? Who would you crown as 2014’s best dressed?

Sure its exciting to tune in to see if your favorite shows or actors win the grand award but the majority definitely sits in to watch the red carpet arrivals. The question at hand is how was the fashion at the Emmys this year? The answer, in one word. SAFE. Were there some misses? From a birdeye’s view the gowns were confusing, predictable at times and even unflattering for some actresses. We want to bring you the ladies that hit the right mark and made all the right choices from head to toe.
Our overall rating for the 2014 Emmys red carpet Fashion is ★★out of 5 stars.

The Amazing Seven At Cannes, 2014

Every year Cannes Film Festival brings out the brightest and biggest stars to the red carpet. It seems like just yesterday we were discussing all the buzz worthy fashion from the Met Gala in New York City. Now we move on to France and the flashing lights of photographers were in a frenzy. This grand event which previews an array of films has been around for 67 years. Throughout those years it has become one of the most sought after event in the industry of cinema. Fashion of course takes front row at Cannes and the ladies did not disappoint. For one, Blake Lively had multiple stunning looks that had everyone stunned by her beauty. Jessica Chastain does an impeccable job of channeling Old Hollywood glamour but always with her own individual presence. One icon of film and fashion is Sophia Loren who at the age of 79 gives the younger actresses a run for their money. Ms. Loren was invited as a special guest and attended the red carpet looking radiant and wowed everyone in sight.

TOP 7: 2014 MET GALA’S BEST DRESSED

It is worldwide one of the most coveted yearly
events in fashion. The most anticipated and talked about fashion moment
besides the Oscars red carpet. This past Monday the glitterati made
their way to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The
designer honoree this year is one the most famous Anglo-American couturier’s,
Charles James. His constructive genius has made him one of the most
admired designers in history. The Costume Institute at the Met Museum
has dedicated their exhibit to showcase this great legend. This
exhibition is open now through August 10th.

Now back to the grand star studded event. This year Fashionistas
were taken by surprise as this event was not being live streamed as its
been done in the past. The live coverage would be mostly via Twitter
and Instagram live. This year the list of attendees was ultra exclusive courtesy of Vogue’s Anna Wintour. It was no surprise that as soon as the event kicked off the #metgala and #charlesjames were trending topics all over the internet.
What also caught the attention of many were so many bad style choices
by some top celebrity names. Some came wearing gowns that were
completely isolated from this years theme and left us very confused. In
our opinion, the most disappointing of all was fashion darling Lupita Nyong’o in Prada. She caused such a stir in her green flapper and feathery dress, but in the end was a
complete miss. After seeing her on so many best dressed list this past
award season, it was a big ‘what were you thinking’ moment for many.

As far as the BEST dressed of the night, well that title goes to none other than one of our favorites, SJP! Decked out in a black and white ball gown by Oscar de la Renta, Sarah stole the show and epitomized the true essence of Charles James. So here is Sarah and our six other picks for belles of the ball at this year’s Met Gala. Tell us which were some of your favorites! If you agree leave us a comment below, if you disagree with our choices, you are welcome to also comment. So keep scrolling below, the fashion forum is now OPEN!

2014: Golden Globes BEST Dressed & More

The beginning of the much talked about award season has officially arrived and it all started this past Sunday with the Golden Globes. So many tuned in to see if their favorite TV shows or movies would win, but the buzz of course was all about the Fashion. So many predictions had been made all over the media but it wasn’t until the limos began to arrive the red carpet that the unveiling began. Certainly there were some good moments and some that left much to be desired by some usual red carpet favorites (we are talking to you Julia Roberts, Jennifer Lawrence and Sandra Bullock). We expect you ladies to step up your game in the next round of award shows.

However, lets leave those so so moments behind and focus on those that took risks, left an impression and are worthy of Best Dressed! Great first impressions came from newcomer ’12 Years a Slave’ actress Lupita Nyong’o and ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ actress Margot Robbie. Cate Blanchett who usually dresses quite fashion forward was a classic beauty in a black lace Armani Prive. Fashionistas are always keeping an eye on what were the top trends that shined. Sunday night it was metallics, colors like green and red and well no fashion moment could happen without some classic little black dresses. Finally, some of the most fabulous moments at the Globes were had by the mommy-to-be’s. These ladies took baby bump glamour to another level from Kerry’s simplicity, Olivia’s emerald glamour to Drew’s feminine embroidered gown.

Did you watch the Golden Globes fashion readers? What were some of your favorites? Which were some of the looks that had you dissatisfied or perplexed? Leave us your comments and tell us how you rated the fashion and style at this award show.
