Fall Preview on 5th Avenue

As New York City braces the hottest heat wave in many years, the display windows on Fifth Avenue are transitioning into a different season…Fall! Yes Fall previews are already trickling into most of the major retailers from high end department stores to smaller chains. Magazine covers are introducing glimpses of colors, silhouettes and hemlines that will be on trend for Fall 2011. Walking by some beautiful displays at Bergdorf Goodman, Burberry, Miu Miu, Chanel and Dior you can’t help but admire the workmanship that goes into each arrangement. The compositions and themes at Bergdorf’s are always stunning and never disappoints. They chose to incorporate some paintings of surrealist artist John Gordon Gauld as backdrops to some of their displays; art & fashion done so well. Karl Lagerfeld for MACYS!!!

This week more details have been released about the Karl Lagerfeld for Macys launch in August. It was exciting see the some of the first images from the collection. The line which will be launched on August 31, 2011 will include dresses, loose fitted tops, tweeds and colors including pink, grey, and black as well as crocodile print. You will also see included his infamous high collar in the designs.  The price range will be approximately between $50 to $170 and will include up to 45 pieces. Over 200 Macys stores nationwide will include Karl’s fashion line in the Impulse department. So mark your calendars Fashionistas, the creative director for the House of Chanel is coming to a Macys near you and you cannot miss this grand event.  First Look!

Edit the Fashion in your closet!

It’s the weekend, its summer and a great time to open the windows and open those closets. The art of editing your closet is important, since you need to be able to keep the staples, and eliminate the pieces that aren’t functional. We all have items or garments that we keep because we plan to fit into later on. We keep things that are dated, are not practical, were trends at one point etc.  Take a good luck at what fits and what investment pieces you have right now. Keep those key pieces that take you from day to night or from one season to the next. Those transitional garments or accessories are vital, especially now. We are in the heart of summer but if you look around fall wear is making its way in many stores. Yes, the first peeks of fall Fashion 2011 is starting to make an appearance.…

SJP and Vogue…Down the Memory Lane!!!

Vogue has published their new August cover girl and guess who it is… The one and only, Sarah Jessica Parker!  SJP has a long time relationship with Vogue Magazine and has graced the cover several times. Each time the photo shoots are better than the one before. From her days in Sex and the City to the present she has worked with the best Editorial Photographers, from Annie Leibovitz to Mario Testino. It goes without saying that the Fashion Styling is top notch for all her photos. The best of the best! In the August Vogue edition Sarah Jessica poses not only with her husband Matthew Broderick but also with her three children, James, Tabitha and Marion. Dressing the Dress Form

From sewing rooms, to shabby chic decor dress forms have long been a staple part of the Fashion Industry. I remember my years in Fashion school and using the dress form in my draping and sewing classes. It is always a great tool to use when trying to manipulate a fabric or desired shape and fit.  The dress form has always been indispensable in high fashion houses and so important for client fittings as well. So today, the world has evolved and so has the use of this famous mannequin. You may have seen the dress form used in window displays, in stationary, arts and crafts stores and even as decoration at home. It’s always such a great signature piece for any Fashionista.
