Edit the Fashion in your closet!

It’s the weekend, its summer and a great time to open the windows and open those closets. The art of editing your closet is important, since you need to be able to keep the staples, and eliminate the pieces that aren’t functional. We all have items or garments that we keep because we plan to fit into later on. We keep things that are dated, are not practical, were trends at one point etc.  Take a good luck at what fits and what investment pieces you have right now. Keep those key pieces that take you from day to night or from one season to the next. Those transitional garments or accessories are vital, especially now. We are in the heart of summer but if you look around fall wear is making its way in many stores. Yes, the first peeks of fall Fashion 2011 is starting to make an appearance.…

SJP and Vogue…Down the Memory Lane!!!

Vogue has published their new August cover girl and guess who it is… The one and only, Sarah Jessica Parker!  SJP has a long time relationship with Vogue Magazine and has graced the cover several times. Each time the photo shoots are better than the one before. From her days in Sex and the City to the present she has worked with the best Editorial Photographers, from Annie Leibovitz to Mario Testino. It goes without saying that the Fashion Styling is top notch for all her photos. The best of the best! In the August Vogue edition Sarah Jessica poses not only with her husband Matthew Broderick but also with her three children, James, Tabitha and Marion. It’s always exciting for me to see her on a cover or to read about her new projects. She has a new movie “I Don’t know How She Does It” coming to theatres September 16, 2011. She is…

Dressing the Dress Form

From sewing rooms, to shabby chic decor dress forms have long been a staple part of the Fashion Industry. I remember my years in Fashion school and using the dress form in my draping and sewing classes. It is always a great tool to use when trying to manipulate a fabric or desired shape and fit.  The dress form has always been indispensable in high fashion houses and so important for client fittings as well. So today, the world has evolved and so has the use of this famous mannequin. You may have seen the dress form used in window displays, in stationary, arts and crafts stores and even as decoration at home. It’s always such a great signature piece for any Fashionista. This is why I chose to include this classic silhouette in my blog header.  Do you have any dress forms in your home? Have you ever used one…

Marion Le Magnifique!

Marion Cotillard was terrific as Adriana in “Midnight in Paris” which I was finally able to see this past weekend. Not only is she a captivating French beauty on the big screen but a natural well rounded actress with much charisma.  She won the Oscar for best actress for playing Edith Piaf in “La Vie en Rose” in 2007 and is the second actress besides Sophia Loren, to win the coveted award by performing in a language other than English. You may also remember her from other films such as, “Public Enemies”, “Nine”, “Inception” and “Little White Lies” to just name a few.  In 2009 she was chosen to be the face of the House of Dior for the “Lady Dior” Ad Campaign.  Her striking features, feminine and demure disposition definitely remind me of the Old Hollywood beauties of the silver screen.  Look for Marion in “The Dark Knight Rises”…
