Then and Now…Guipure Lace is here for Fall 2011!

Guipure is a word I remember hearing my mother Sabina mention when I was growing up. I always found it to be a fascinating and sophisticated term. If you remember from my very first post From the Beginning my mom was the very first Fashion role model I had at home. So its of no surprise that I learned so many terms about fabrics, sewing, trimmings, silhouettes and what is now considered vintage fashion. At times she referenced this lace embroidery when she described dresses that she had owned or had seamstresses make for her. Recently, this term resonated with me when I saw how Marc Jacobs, Valentino, Tom Ford and other designers are making use of this lace pattern in their collections for Fall 2011. A peek at Fall 2011 SHOES!

It’s time to pay a special visit to one of the ladies favorite fascinations, SHOES. Fall previews are hitting the stores and magazines and of course shoes are no exception. So what are some of the hot soles hitting the pavement this upcoming season?  Well the runways for Fall 2011 were full of fur, big statement heels, metallics, patterns, animal prints, bright colors, 70’s inspired platforms, booties and lace up boots. From menswear inspired loafers, oxfords and flats to sexy lady like pumps. Off the runway my personal favorites were the Miu Miu collection with their curved heel. The options and incredible designs to chose from are endless. Some are extreme and high, others are embellished and whimsical. Here are some impressive right off the runway shoes and some that you will find in stores, now in fact. Fall is always an exciting time not only for ready to wear…

New York Fashion Week is just about a month away and the anticipation of what’s to come is already in the air. What will the designers be showing for the Spring 2012 Collections? Which designers will be showing at Lincoln Center and other venues around the city? In the spirit of what is the takeover of Fashion in the big apple, I have put together some of the moments that I witnessed last year during NYFW Spring 2011 at Lincoln Center. So who was in attendance? Well, from the glamorous to the very colorful and creative there was an array of Fashionistas on site. Of course, there were plenty of celebrity sightings and industry insiders that made spontaneous cameos. It will be very interesting to see who will  make the rounds at the shows this year. Just remember if you can’t make the live shows, many designers are now live…
