ANN TAYLOR FALL/WINTER ’16 COLLECTION

Ann Taylor recently celebrated their press preview event showcasing their looks for fall/winter 2016. The brand’s creative director Austyn Zung (who has worked with Oscar de la Renta and Balmain Paris in the past) presented an exquisite and sophisticated collection that included a continuation of romantic ruffles from this current season. Also an array of textures such as statement faux-furs and shearling. When we think of Ann Taylor and the working woman, we think of a polished, well-styled woman and this fall collection will be no exception. It was exciting to see Zung play with prints such as jacquards and houndstooth and the colors ranged from earth tones to more muted tones giving the customer options to mix and match or stay in a monochromatic palette. The accessories included animal print handbags and bold gemstoned jewelry which brought together the perfect compliment to many of these looks. There are many style options…

PRINCE: THE UNEXPLAINABLE GENIUS OF MUSIC AND FASHION

“I don’t really care so much what people say about me because it usually is a reflection of who they are. For example, if people wish I would sound like I used to sound, then it says more about them than it does me.” – Prince Last Thursday we lost one of the biggest musical treasures the world has ever witnessed. Prince Rogers Nelson better known to us all as just Prince, died at the age of 57. #GoneTooSoon was one of the many Twitter hashtags to describe the inconsolable pain and heavy heart so many have felt since hearing the news. The year has taken many legends of music this year from David Bowie, Natalie Cole and The Eagles, Glenn Frey to just name a few. Yet, the passing of Prince seemed to shock the masses of different age groups and listeners of so many music genres. That’s just the…

Perhaps, you’ve taken a yoga class, engaged in some kind of meditation or gone the eastern medicine route with acupuncture therapy. So it comes to no surprise that in a time when there seems to be much angst and concern about the state of our world, we gravitate toward seeking good vibes and anything that is in a higher and positive energy. Even Pantone who is the authority on all things color soothed things down this year by announcing the two colors of the year were ‘serenity’ and ‘rose quartz.’ If that isn’t inspired by a little new age…Of course, even some of the most famous names in Hollywood are known to pay a visit to their favorite psychics regularly and incorporate natural elements into their…

ATHLEISURE: TRENDING NOW – FROM GLAM TO ACTIVEWEAR

Remember the days when getting dressed ‘to the nines’ was the most the most talked about topic? Well, no one is giving up on that notion, but it’s worth noting that the fashion industry has been shifting and gravitating to more of a casual style. It’s very clear from the runways to street style that having the right set of workout clothes is key today. With gym and fitness lifestyles on the rise, it was just a matter of time before active wear and ready to wear crossed fashion paths. Fashion Designer Alexander Wang has been presenting edgy and casual collections for a few seasons. Other designers like Derek Lam, Tory Burch and Rebecca Minkoff have followed up with their own lines of ‘Athleisure’ wear (athletic-leisure) in stores and online.  BEYONCE FOR IVY PARK Times have changed and who doesn’t know someone who’s dieting and exercising or looking for their…
