The biggest fashion gala of the year finally arrived on the ‘First Monday of May’.  The preparations have been on its way for months and today the glitterati hit the red carpet for the unveiling of this year’s Costume Institute fashion exhibition, Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology. It is a crossroads of sorts; wearable man-made couture and technology-based fashion. With the ongoing debate of ‘fashion is art’, this exhibition is quite a celebration of the importance of couture and the futuristic elements of fashion. Beginning with Designer Christian Siriano, who is not only a visionary but when it comes to designing, it’s clear he knows how to dress not just models and celebrities, but women of ALL sizes. Ann Taylor recently celebrated their press preview event showcasing their looks for fall/winter 2016. The brand’s creative director Austyn Zung (who has worked with Oscar de la Renta and Balmain Paris in the past) presented an exquisite and sophisticated collection that included a continuation of romantic ruffles from this current season. Also an array of textures such as statement faux-furs and shearling. When we think of Ann Taylor and the working woman, we think of a polished, well-styled woman and this fall collection will be no exception. It was exciting to see Zung play with prints such as jacquards and houndstooth and the colors ranged from earth tones to more muted tones giving the customer options to mix and match or stay in a monochromatic palette.
