Cannes 2016 Best Dressed

Jessica Chastain in Giorgio Armani Every year the bold, famous and beautiful come to the Cannes Film Festival and for the most part bring their A-game to the red carpet. Once again this year the cinematic stars from around the world came to the south of France in multitudes to shine a light on their films or participation in them. Others were invited to the many glamorous events happening during the twelve days of the festival. Blake Lively attended several events and grabbed many of the headlines with her baby bump dressed to the nines in high fashion gowns. Fashion, Art and Glamour: Museo Del Barrio 2016 Annual Gala

On May 12, 2016, El Museo Del Barrio hosted their 23rd annual gala. This year the institution was honoring two of fashion and art’s iconic figures, Isabel and Ruben Toledo and MAC Cosmetics. Hosted by gala co-chairs Maria Eugenia Maury, William H. Haseltine and Fashion Designer, Narciso Rodriguez the event drew over 400 guests from the fashion and art world that also included luminaries, philanthropists and collectors. For this grand evening, the source of inspiration came from the late Puerto Rican fashion illustrator Antonio Lopez whose much-anticipated solo exhibition ‘Future Funk Fashion’ will be on display at the Museo Del Barrio beginning June 14 – November 26 (stay tuned for as One Style at a Time brings you a full review of the exhibit this summer). The biggest fashion gala of the year finally arrived on the ‘First Monday of May’.  The preparations have been on its way for months and today the glitterati hit the red carpet for the unveiling of this year’s Costume Institute fashion exhibition, Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology. It is a crossroads of sorts; wearable man-made couture and technology-based fashion. With the ongoing debate of ‘fashion is art’, this exhibition is quite a celebration of the importance of couture and the futuristic elements of fashion. As the Met Gala got on its way, the anticipation began as to how the celebrities would interpret this theme into their red carpet attire.
