Maria Cartagena was born and raised in New York and she studied fashion design at the Fashion Institute of Technology. From a very young age, she was creative, curious and drawn to the art and design of high-quality, well-crafted clothing. She has always been an avid writer and creating a blog was something that has brought together her passion for the written word and the arts. 

Since launching One Style at a Time in 2011, Maria contributed as a fashion guest panelist on the Huffington Post Live, appeared alongside fashion designers Cynthia Rowley, Donna Karan, and celebrity stylist Brad Goreski. She was also featured in Latina Magazine during New York Fashion Week: Street Style: Latinas at New York Fashion Week. For over six seasons she was a part of the New York fashion scene, providing exclusive coverage of fashion shows that included NYC and Canada. 

In 2017, Maria decided to take the platform of her blog in a new direction which she labeled, ‘Beyond the Fashion’. Her new mission is to inspire others in their soul-searching creative journey as well as personal development. When she is not busy doing write-ups on her computer, Maria enjoys visiting art museums, practicing yoga, and meditation. She is passionate about the arts and is also an intuitive painter. Currently, also she also works in the Television Media industry.
