Angel Sanchez presented his autumn/winter 2016 collection this past week during New York Fashion Week. The show invitation did include the name ‘Fetish’ with a dark image of winged feathers. That definitely set the theme and it peaked the curiosity of what was to come. In an intimate setting at his midtown, garment district studio, the models made their way down the runway and the mood was definitely dark, romantic and highly elegant. Angel’s designs are usually monochromatic and architecturally inspired and in this collection, he certainly kept his aesthetics. The approach was more dramatic and as he told the WWD publication, he “is obsessed with the mystery of the night” and it definitely showed as he wanted to present the “faces of desire”. There were sensual cocktail and evening gowns that featured lace and illusion necklines with velveteen ribbons. The neckline was a key point which was highlighted by bold, high neckpieces. Touches of color such as gold, deep red and purple tied in this beautiful collection that was magical, sexy and full of dark, noir dramatic notes.
