Today we are exploring the sensation that is the cat eye makeup style through different eras. Hello, unless you have been living under a rock, then by now you should know that record-breaking singer Adele has made the cat eye her trademark look. Sure she has the most beautiful face which has graced covers like Vogue, Elle, Rolling Stones and People but her bold eyes steal the show. Her makeup artist Michael Ashton who is the mastermind behind Adele’s look for the ‘Hello’ video says he starts the process by using a gel liner, then completes this famous winged cat eye with liquid liner for a very polished look. Mission accomplished! Lately, the conversation about Adele goes from her extraordinary heartfelt songs to the beauty of her makeup. However, this catty look did not start with her. We must give special mention to the Egyptians and Mesopotamians that created it which was not only used for the aesthetics purposes, but also as protection from the sun and against the ‘evil eye’.
