What is one of the most exciting things about New York Fashion Week? If you put aside all the fashion parties, the celebrity buzz and social media frenzy one standout would be young blooming design talent. If you have not heard of Sally Lapointe then have a seat and take note. Sally is a Massachusetts born designer who began her career studying fine art, sculpture and painting, graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design and in 2013 was named by Forbes’ one of 30 under 30′ in art and design. She has dressed celebrities such as Emily Blunt, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and others. Fast forward to fashion week and Sally has presented one of the most memorable and impressive ready to wear collections for Fall 2015.

Her inspiration for this collection was German dancer and choreographer Pina Bausch and the attribution of movement was certainly visible in all the clothes in this presentation. To quote Sally, “Pina Bausch had the ability to both shock and inspire raw, honest and a bit crude. It was an assault on all expectations”. As the models walked the runway the designs included; wool capes, cash wool sweaters, wide leg trousers, a wool cocoon coat with a fox fur stole. Oversized leather clutch bags made for a woman who is on the move with more than the essentials to carry. A beautiful reptile printed sequin drape dress that shimmered and delighted. A mahogany mink sleeveless sweater and a cognac double face wool slit skirt was another favorite that moved effortlessly. It was a luxe feel with textures juxtaposed with a minimalistic feel that has simply placed Sally at the top of her game. Bravo!
